I am trying to setup my home network and am running into some problems. Mostly because I'm not very good when it comes to networking. So, I'll try and explain my situation and hopefully someone will be able to help me out. I have 3 systems. Two systems are running Windows XP Pro and the third is a new installation of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. I would like to set up this third system as a server. My immediate goal is to have a place for both of the XP Pro systems to backup and store files. I know that I could set this up with a Workgroup network... but I would like more functionality out of my server down the road. I believe that setting up a domain would be the right way to go, but I'm not sure how to set this up. But, then again... I'm no expert. The following are all of my hardware components: - 2 XP Pro Systems - 1 Server 2003 System - 1 Broadband Router - 1 Printer Goals: - Share files between the computers - Print from any of the computers - Internet access to all the computers - Access files on the server from a remote location Question: - How do I setup my network so I can accomplish all of my goals. Thank you in advance for your time and help. |
