I need some tips please. I have almost crashed twice. It always runs
back in the dash before I can kill it. I thought about a bug bomb, but
it seems too much for such a small space. I live in terror every time
I drive. Thanks for any help!

If it's not applicable to use an insecticide you can probably go to an
auto-electrical repair shop, tell them about the problem and have them
remove the dashboard so they can eliminate the thing for you. If you
ask me, I'd rather spend for the labor than risk my life driving in
terror.

Using an insecticide in such a confined space is not a good idea. It
may kill the spider but it could also make you ill.

Obviously, if it is terrorising you then it has to be removed but
spiders are notoriously difficult to locate.

Maybe Feilong's idea would work but there could be no guarantee (I guess).

Does the spider have a favourite entrance and exit path?

Hi there!
Spiders dont like cold weather. Here in Sweden we sometimes get the
blackwidow spider in imported cars. The safest way is to import cars
during the winter.

You could take your car to perhaps local meatprovider, they surely
have a big freezer and maybe you can park your car there during the
night. Or you can drive to Alaska.

bug bomb the car, with windows closed. Do it over a weekend eve, leave
the car open all the next day.

Have you tried mothballs? Spiders do not like the smell of them, and
will usually leave the area promptly.

Bug bomb wait 24 hours. Nothing bad is going to happen, well --
unless your car using a pilot light to start. When done, wipe inside
down.

P.S. (cars don't use pilot lights.....it's a joke)

Give it a name. Adopt it as a pet. Recently I spent a week on the road
on my bike, couple of thousand miles. Every morning I brushed the web
off the inside of the fairing. Every night it rebuilt it and feasted
on midges. It was nice to have the company.

Hire a spider wasp such as Auplopus carbonarius or Pompilidae.

Phew, Daizy, Here's a new line of thought ...

Do you really need a car?

Why not trade it in for a horse?

When you know you are well liked by spiders, you naturaly find your spider
more likeable. You're too worried about the spider. Open up, and
try to enjoy the spider a little more. I think you were offered some great
ideas. Instead of dissmising them as "fun and usefull", you should
think of what was offered to you. Not every one will respond the same
to all forms of spiders. Find what makes YOU feel good about spiders!
Good luck.

Unless you can verify that this spider is venomous, you're probably
better off learning to live with it. Why would you want to kill off
the critters that kill the critters that really make our lives
miserable? They eat roaches and mosquitoes and fleas and ants and
other annoyances. I'm on the spider's side here.

I would place a Glue Board on the dashboard when the automobile is not
in use and you may be able to catch the nasty Arachnid. I wouldn't use
most pesticides in an enclosed place such as your automobile for
safety reasons. But you may want to use a Pyrethrum spray; Pyrethrum
is extracted from chrysanthemum flowers,

Good Luck
