Where can I buy a retro (a modern replica of an old radio) brand: mambo nordmende. It was one of the first transistor radios on the market. Likely retro is being made in US. We need the answer by noon pacific time of 07/17/2002 After that it is useless to us and will be considered not satisfactory. |

Hello hedgie-ga, . I could not find a replica or evidence of it's manufacture. It appears there wasn't one for commerical gain or as a tribute. The words mambo nordmende throw a blank in most searches and results are very limited just for those two words, adding the word replica returns zero. However I did find the original mambo for sale. . This one on a German site (translated into English by Google) is priced at 159 DM (it may be slightly out of date but could be worthwhile emailing the owner ) http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.antik-radio.de/radio/nordmende.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3DNordmende%2B-%2BGer%25C3%25A4te%2Baus%2Bmeiner%2BSammlung%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26sa%3DG The email link is on this page http://216.239.37.120/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://www.antik-radio.de/radio/radioo.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3DNordmende%2B-%2BGer%25C3%25A4te%2Baus%2Bmeiner%2BSammlung%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26sa%3DG . This owner is selling his equipment http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://home.t-online.de/home/rudolf.falk/anzeig.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3DSchmuckst%25C3%25BCcke%2Bdie%2Bjedem%2BRaum%2Beinen%2Bbesonderen%2BGlanz%2Bverleihen%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26sa%3DG . and here is the Mambo http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://home.t-online.de/home/rudolf.falk/koffer.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3D%2522nordmende%2Bmambo%2522%2B%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26sa%3DG It is visually and technically OK. . Search strategy: . "nordmende mambo" ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22nordmende+mambo%22&btnG=Google+Search . I hope the answer is in some way useful. kind regards lot-ga | |

Poor rating reflects unprofessional reaction (either arguing with customer or talking down to him) I am not sure which motivated his description and then defense of a search strategy, which did not produced the desired result. There are US sites which sell retro's (I do not really care where they are made) and one offers to make replica of any old radio. The list of those, would be more useful, than analysis of economy of production, given that this particular retro doe not seem to exist. |
