Dear henry1

I can only find the answer to the first half of your question.
To clarify, presumably digital camera in this context is a still
digital camera which records video onto the 'same media' as it's still
captures,
and that you are discounting DV (Digital Video) 'tape format' digital
cameras (some of which can do still captures to memory card) and
mobile phone cameras which which also have video capability.

you are correct. i am seeking to determine the number of still digital
cameras that also have video capability. I am not interested in
tape-format DV or mini Dv cameras. thanks for the help

Dear henry1

I found a lot of interesting data regarding digital photography
(primarily U.S. based), but couldn't find any information regarding
the proportion of video capable digital cameras sold, worldwide for
2003. I found some fee based research material which could contain
this data, but for free access the information was not forth coming.
Perhaps another researcher can pinpoint that particular statistic.

Kind regards

You have correctly identified my question. Unfortunately I am most
interested in the number of "still digital cameras which record video
onto the 'same media' as the still captures" sold last year that have
video capability.

I am not interested in DV tape-based cameras. I would be interested in
cameras sold with video capibility but that number will be small so I
it is not as important to me.

So why don't you just answer the first question in the following way
- number of video cameras sold in 2003
- number of digital cameras in 2003
