Will add 50% tip to my price if you give me a WORKING answer (I will
test it!) in the next 12 hours.
I need to use my Airport card to connect via PPPoE. Here's why:
http://www.telkom.co.za/portal/page?_pageid=554,72063&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&paramURL=/pls/portal/docs/page/tzone/index.jsp
I am running Mac OS 10.3.5, and I will not downgrade (I found a
MacPoet solution for OS 9, on Carrick's site). I also don't want to
have to buy any software (PPPoE is built into OS X, after all), but
I'll throw the money your way anyway, if you find out how to do it for
under $30 (just so I know for when I have more money). I have not
found ANY solutions thus far.
Here's the thing: I can easily connect to my PPPoE modem at home with
built-in ethernet connected directly (found heaps of info on this
here); I can also get my wireless router to connect to the PPPoE
modem, then use DHCP with my wireless card (lots of info on this,
especially with an airport base, too).
The problem is that these guys over at telkom (above) want me to first
connect to their hotspot (I can see the telkom SSID), and THEN connect
via PPPoE with my wireless card, using my username and password to
surf - even tho all PPP options disappear as soon as I turn my airport
on. Apparently, they've had great success with PCs, but my mac is
giving issues. I've tried, in lieu of the ellusive PPPoE on airport
solution, to use LEAP, WPA, and even to hit "connect" on PPPoE once my
airport is linked to their SSID. But I just can't surf!
Please help!
