I need to install an aftermarket CD player in my VW Golf 1999
Wolfsburg Edition. There has been a different player in the past and
the wires are simply cut (no adapter can help now). I need a reference
of which wire from my VW car corresponds to what function. Something
like this:

wire -> function
-----------------
black -> battery
green/yellow -> ignition
blue/yellow -> left front speaker
blue/red -> rear left speaker
...

Note that the above example is totally random and not accurate at all.
Also, I have the reference for my player (that is, which wire from my
player should be connected to what, so the model does not really
matter).

Your best bet it to check local slavage yards for a replacemt wiring
clip. And re wire it back into your car. Who ever removed it obviously
didn't know what they were doing. You don't want to get prices from
the dealer as the will try and charge you for a whole new wiring
harness whcih can cost you at least $1,000.00. But at a salvage yard
you are looking at between $5.-$20.
