In the year of 1989, the movie ?Shirley Valentine? was in theatres
throughout the United States.

The movie has been available, and is still available in the VHS format.

However, I wish to purchase the movie in the DVD format.

My question is:
Will the movie ?Shirley Valentine? ever be available in the DVD format?
And if it is ever available:  When?

Hi clicker5,
The DVD for Shirley Valentine is currently not available, but I did
find when the DVD will be released in the UK.  I believe the release
date for the US is unknown.  It will be released as a Region 2 DVD,
and you can read more about DVD formats here:

No, the DVD in England is Region 2 and Region 1 is the US.  From the
Amazon Region page "Region 2 DVDs may not work on DVD players in other
countries."  So you would need a region-free dvd player in order to
play this.

The "Shirley Valentine" DVD will be released in the UK on November 8,
2004.  You can view the preorder this DVD at Amazon's UK page:

At this time, it is unknown when the US version will be released, but
as you said, if the UK release is a success, it should be released in
the US.  Amazon.com has a page where you can be notified via email
