I signed up today with them to locate a friend who has passed
away.Cannot get an answer; only offers to spend more money. They
charged me once before for something I did not want. I can find no way
to unsubscribe, and I want this done ASAP. thank you

Acccording to the Ancestry.com help site, this is what you'd have to
do in order to cancel your Account:

"If you are within the United States and wish to cancel a paid
subscription or discuss your billing history with one of our Account
Services Representatives, please call 1-800-262-3787. Simply select
option #4 at the teleprompt to speak to an Account Services
representative who can cancel your account and will give you a
confirmation number verifying the cancelation. Account Services is
available between the hours of 6 AM and 8 PM Mountain Time, Monday
through Friday and Saturday between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM
Mountain Time. Please note that we are unable to process cancellation
requests via email.

If you are an international subscriber and are unable to use the toll
free number above, please call (801) 705-7620 or send a message to
cancel@ancestry.com and provide the following information:

First and Last Name
Username
Subscription type (e.g. Data, Census Images, etc.)
Email address used when subscribing
Phone number including country code
Country

After processing your email request we will send a confirmation reply.
PLEASE NOTE: The above email address is for International customers
only. US customers will be unable to cancel via email."

What makes matters more confusing is the additional tip...

Those ancesty.com ppl have been bugging me as well.  I was just too
lazy to go through the trouble of unsubscribing.  I just put them on
my spam filter.

This was scriptor's 1001st answer.  perhaps the 1.00 and 1 star was for that?
