Hi kalivy,
Your question is a bit broad (have you seen the tons of information
about the Civil War?), but perhaps I can point you to some helpful
resources.
One of the most popular Civil War information sites is:
The Civil War Homepage
http://www.civil-war.net/
Information can be found broken down by battle, time frame, or even person.
A comprehensive database organized by soldiers records, battle
synopses and photographs is available for $25/year:
American Civil War Research Database
http://www.civilwardata.com/
Maps, photos and an alphabetical list of battles and their
descriptions can be found here:
American Civil War
http://americancivilwar.com/civil.html
For a great list of resources, you might like this one:
Index of Civil War Information available on the Internet
http://www.cwc.lsu.edu/cwc/civlink.htm
To concentrate on one battle or another, choose a Battlefield Park
from this list maintained by the Civil War Sites Advisory Commission:
Civil War Parks
http://www2.cr.nps.gov/abpp/civil.htm#parks
[ If you live near enough to one of these parks and have the time
before your paper is due, I highly recommend that you visit one of
these parks and take the Parks Service tour. These guides are highly
knowledgeable about their chosen subject and can provide you with much
more information than what you might be able to find on your own. We
visited Gettysburg recently and are still astounded by the depth of
our guide's knowledge. ]
Good luck with your paper!
