I'm looking for a list of DME Medicare audit cases (and the verdict)
that have been presented before Robert Droker this year; Droker is an
ALJ who works out of the Jacksonville, FL "Office of Hearings and
Appeals". DME and HME are accronyms for companies that sell and rent
medical equipment to users (i.e. wheelchairs, hospital beds, etc).
ALJ is an accronym for Administrative Law Judge.

I agree...it is pretty startling that it's so hard to get basic
information about the hearings.

On thought...you might want to contact Rich Tucker, the reporter who
wrote this article:

http://www.2spencers.com/case-backlog.htm

Droker was (reluctalntly, it seems) cited in the article, and Tucker
apparently had some sucess in getting some statistics out of the
hearings office.

By the way, if you can let us know a bit more about your research
project, perhaps we can suggest some alternative means of getting
useful information.

Best of luck,

Hey,,,, Just have to comment because I am in Jacksonville Florida.
This should be public record... Have you attempted to go to the
courthouse and get these .. Would take some time but should be avail
to the public.

Thanks

Thank you for your comment. Yes, we've tried to get the records
directly from the courthouse. We were told that it was up to that
judge, no one had ever asked such a thing before, and the chances were
nil.

This question seems so obvious that I'm amazed that no one has faced
or addressed it before. We called several lawfirms because we learned
that they have access to a legal database of cases. No one wanted to
even give us a price on obtaining that information.
