Hello.

The press release that you want is actually from 2002 rather than
2003. It does not appear to be available free online.

However, you may obtain it for $2.50 from Lexis-Nexis. Here are
instructions on how to do that:

(1) Go to this Lexis-Nexis page:
https://web.lexis.com/LNE/ServiceSelection_en.asp

(2) Select the $2.50 per document rate.
Click on "continue" to bring up the search page.

(3) In the "Source" drop-down menu, select: "Global News - newswires"

(4) In the "search terms" box, enter: diego symphony

(5) In the "additional terms" box, enter: jacobs

(5) Press the "search" button.

(7) 29 results will be listed. The press release that you want is result #21.

"21. PR Newswire, January 11, 2002, Friday, ENTERTAINMENT, TELEVISION,
AND CULTURE, 569 words, San Diego Symphony to Receive $100 Million
From Technology Pioneer, Philanthropist; Joan and Irwin Jacobs to
Present Donation at Special Ceremony and Performance; Largest Single
Donation Ever to a Symphony Orchestra Ensures Financial Future As a
Major Music Organization, SAN DIEGO, Jan. 11"

--------

I've read the complete press release, and I notice that appromixately
75% of it is excerpted (and available for free) at San Diego Metro.com
(beginning where it says "The San Diego Symphony says it will
receive..."):
http://www.sandiegometro.com/2002/jan/dailyupdt14.html

---------
search strategy:
lexis-nexis, newswires, "diego symphony" jacobs

I hope this helps.

Sorry for that typo:

"appromixately" = "approximately"
