I'm not sure that is the correct answer. The question is in what
market did Alltel launch its first wireless system in 1985.  The
answer you provided says Alltel was the first to launch wireless
service for Charlotte.  Could Little Rock Alltel service been sooner?

From the research I have done, I see no indication that even though Alltel was
based in Little Rock in 1985, that is where they launched their first wireless
system.  I started my research looking for just that, thinking that Little Rock
would be the (obvious) answer.

Considering the expense at the time of such a launch, I think they would have
concentrated such efforts into a single market at first.  The information I
provided was the only named location that I could find that matched the date.

Note the quotation says that Alltel was the first to offer wireless
service in Charlotte, NOT that that was the first place they offered
it.
