Hi sherpaj-ga,

You are correct. I have used a Dell PowerEdge 600sc server. The
mainboard on the Dell 600sc has five PCI slots. All of them support
3.3V cards. Four of them are 64 bit/66Mhz and 1 is a 32 bit/33 Mhz
slot. 99% of all PCI cards in the world are 5V cards. PowerEdge 600SC
servers will take any standard 3.3V (volts) PCI card. So you're gonna
have to order a 3.3V PCI Firewire card. PCI cards provide for 3.3V or
5V signaling, or both. The motherboard determines the signaling
voltage. 3.3V is a new standard, but thousands of 3.3V PCI cards are
available for sale. For example, the MeritLine store sells some (

I went to look for a 3.5 volt card and had a hard time finding one
with firewire and usb 2.0.

Will this work?

Will you send me a link or two for a good one that has stable drivers
for a server running win 2003 server.
thanks

Dear Sherpa-j,

I'm glad my comment was helpful to you.

Regarding your first question, it seems to me that the card featured
on the link you've provided (
http://www.pcpartscollection.com/8pousb20fidv.html ) should work all
right with the 600sc.

As far as your second query goes, i.e. can I send you a link or two
for a card that is stable; unfortunately, I do not have any first hand
knowledge and experience of using a firewire/usb 2.0 card with the
600sc. Therefore, I will not be able to suggest a product to you very
assertively or confidently. Having used other Belkin products before,
I'd have no hesitation in recommending to you the Belkin F5U508 for
your needs.

The Belkin F5U508 can be seen and ordered off:
http://uk.shopping.com/xPR-Belkin_USB_FireWire_2_0_Hi_Speed_PCI_Card_F5U508

However, there is one bad review related to this product on the same
page, which can be read on:

Having read the above review, I'm compelled to advise you to look for
other options as well. Froogle.com (a Google.com service) makes it
easy to find information about products for sale online. A simple
search on Froogle.com for this particular product returned dozens of
links (all of them are current and work)
