Often you cannot identify the sender of an email, particularly if the
person wishes to remain anonymous.

You may find this useful:

As the answer refered to above discloses, the Yahoo! profile doesn't
mean anything, and one can lie about their location in Yahoo!
registration.

There is a few steps to take.
First sign up for the free trial at http://www.readnotify.com/

Send the person different mails with different subject titles until they open one.
When they open it,, it will display the full system of their computer.
It will also give their ip and display a map of their location right
down to street level.

From all the info you have, you can identify more about the person and
build up a picture.
Eg: they ahve windows xp with flash and norton avtivirus and they
opened your mail at 2.30am and they live in this town in this area.

Then you can work out if you have friends with that system,, in that
area which are up at that time of the morning...
If you can identify its a friend or not then you are always narrowing things down.
You can do google searches on their ip adress.
If it is a static ip,, it will be just for them and you can build up a
pattern about their surfing history or if you are lucky,, you can
identify them to a forum post with their real name or details.

I am sure you get the picture oof how to go about things.

To use a company to identify someone from their ip adress is illigial
and best avoided,, to work it out yourself if quite legal.
