If monthly periods serve to cleanse the uterus, as even allopathic medicine claims, then what happens to the uterus in post menopause? It seems to me that this organ would become stagnant, even putrid, after a while. I would think this might be causative of fibroid cysts among other problems. Is there a way to cleanse the uterus in post menopause? I know about douches; I'm not talking about vaginal cleansing. I would imagine orgasmic sex would help; still any other ideas? Herbal therapy? Natural phyto-hormone replacement? |

Like most other bodily organs, the uterus takes care of itself. You no more need to cleanse it than you need to cleanse your pancreas. The menstrual "cleansing" in a woman of childbearing age has to do with removal from the body of spongy endometrial tissue whose purpose is to provide a lodging-place for the fertilized egg. Normally, this kind of tissue does not continue to build up in the same way after menopause, so there is no further need for "cleansing." |

Hello pinkfreud; you seem to be everywhere . . . ! I know what the purpose of the menstrual fluid is, and I know that after menopause that this purpose is no longer an issue. Still, unlike the pancreas, the uterus has an opening to the outside of the body, where fluid flows out and things can get in, bacteria, etc, not to mention sperm. I know this is an unusual question; not one you'd normally find in books on women's health. You're probably right that it doesn't need to be 'cleaned'. Yet, thinking outside the box here (so to speak) yogis have all sorts of methods for cleaning the body in ways we'd never expect, ways that have proved to be very helpful and healthy when approached with moderation. "Neti" for example has helped many people overcome chronic sinus problems. This question is definately outside the mainstream; maybe something that Google answers would rather not address .... ? |

>> This question is definately outside the mainstream; maybe >> something that Google answers would rather not address .... ? GA may very well be able to address this from the standpoint you desire; there are several Google Answers Researchers who are believers in the efficacy of various alternative theories and treatments which western medicine finds to be baseless. I'm not one of those Researchers. That's why I posted a comment rather than an answer. |

>> Hello pinkfreud; you seem to be everywhere . . . ! I'm not really everywhere, timespacette. I just oscillate very rapidly from one spot to another, and that gives the illusion of omnipresence. :-D |
