What I would like to know is how to change the configuation file in a Toshiba PCX1100U cable modem. I would like the ability to change this from my side (end user) WHat are the exact step by step ways to do this. |

http://192.168.100.1/ use that url in your browser.. to update or flash the rom it gets more dificult for the end user to change the software version. Thanks Steve |

That IP did not work.. I do need to get into the ROM as well. I need access to the Speed settings ect.. |

The speeds are set at the head end. You'll need to find a way to break into your cable company DOCCIS servers to change your speed settings. More or less illegal in all states, far as I know. |

Unless you are authorized to do so, and by that I mean a technician in charge of the speeds of your modem, it is illegal to change the speeds on your modem. Although some old cable modems do have the speed settings at your end, the majority these days are controlled at the head end where you have no control over it at all. |

On my cable system i was told by a tech that I would be able to edit the DOCSIS on the modem if i wanted to. The only catch for me is the price of my service goes up as my speed does. However he did not tell me how to do this. |
