I NEED TO KNOW BY 17 OCTOBER 2004 as this is date i travel.
how can I make my daughter a US citizen at the point of entry to the
USA if she does not have a right to citizenship through her parents.
We are both USA citizens not born in the USA and without a way to
prove residency. Therefore I was told that our children are not
automatic USA citizens.
I was told once at JFK airport by an immigrations officer with my
oldest child that if i would have had a valid long birth certificate
then i could have claimed US citizenship the FIRST time she
entered. Now with my second child I have asked immigration at
buffulo/niagra and the deny that this is the case so what do i do?

Howdy happyharry-ga,

It might help researchers to know the birthplace countries of your two
children, if you have birth certificates for both of them, and your and
your wife's citizenship status, that is, how did you and your wife gain
U.S. citizenship.

Looking Forward, denco-ga - Google Answers Researcher

Hi happyharry,

It's important to know how the children will be entering the US.
Visitor's visas or immigration visas? Also, how old are the children?

Regards,
Rainbow

Hiya people!

First of all thanks for your valuable time,I really appreciate it!!

My chilldrens ages are 4 months and 2.5 years old. They were born in
the UK and I have what's known as the LONG birth certificate, that is
what has details of the parents as well, for my second child. My
father is an American born and bred citizen therefore I have
entitlment, Both my wife's parents are american born and bred
therefore she has an entitlemment. Both my wife and I were not born in
the USA and even athough we lived there we cannot prove it as it was
after school leaving age and we never filed taxes as we were living
with grandparents and did not have jobs.

For my eldest daughter, when I had a teaching position in the Republic
of Mol'dova, i applied and received a passport at the embassy there
and frankly I dont think that I'm gonna argue with their generosity.
It's my second child that is the problem.

I am also aware of the grandparents clause but it takes a very long
time and I don't know when we are gonna visit again.

When we cross the border I am not sure what to say, frankly I am happy
to say anything but I dont have any visas for my children, in theory
maybe I can get some in Toronto where I am now.

Also the reason I am in Toronto is because my wife's parents live there.
also while I may be able to solve my problem this time I not sure what
I can do re any further problems.

Once again thank you very much to everybody,
Best wishes
