Hello researchers,

I have a UK job interview coming up, and would like this to be
answered by a UK researcher who has some understanding of job
interviews and recruitment in the UK.

There are some job specifications that I am not familiar with. Can you
find me some information so I can do a crash course in learning the
basics so I can cover some of these in an interview. Latest issues and
topics in the media would be fine, and I just want to demonstrate a
basic understanding and awareness.

1. Knowledge of employment law

2. Knowledge of Personnel/HR procedures.

3. Knowledge of the labour market and its employment opportunities.

4. Knowledge of current government employment programmes and other
benefits available to disabled people.

5. Knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act.

6. Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities.

7. Access to Work funding for disabled people.

8. The 'Double Tick' Disabled logo for disabled job hunters, and the
purpose behind it.

9. New Deal for Disabled People

10. Workstep for Disabled People (not sure if this exists?).

Thanks, pinkhippo.

Hi,

I've recently gone through a few job interviews in the UK, if you give
me some background about the type of job you're applying to, it would
help in tailoring the answer.

Questions 1, 2 and 3 are quite vague, could you specify them a bit more please?

Thanks.

I am applying for a job in a role as Employment Adviser, that will
help people with Disabilities in gaining employment and protecting
their rights.

Most of the questions below are in relation to protecting and gaining
disabled people's rights.

I want to know what I am talking about should any questions come up in
an interview. Just an overview of the key points would be good,
including latest changes and initiatives.

If this is not enough let me know.

Obviously I cannot say too much as I don't want people to pinpoint who
I am and what I am going for.

Thanks, pinkhippo.
