What's the exact problem you are having with xnews? I use it and
decode yenc postings with no problems.

when i click on the message it just shows garbage text - rember I used
xnews before as well on my old system with no problem - but with my
new computer there is something missing or changed that is not
allowing it to work

Are you trying to view yenc-oded pictures, videos, etc.? Also, are you
sure you're not trying to view yenc-oded compressed files (such as
rar, zip, etc.)?

yenc pictures to start - i just click on the header and wait for it to
appear - they are not multi-part or compressed - remember, i once used
it with no problem so i am framiliar with it - also i am currently
having no problems with non-yenc files - i have tried many readers and
non of them are able to handle yenc files on this machine

I had this problem when I upgraded to the latest version of ZoneAlarm.
If you're running Zonealarm try turning it off and then try using
Xnews again. Good luck.

thanks puckscode - that was what was doing it - right answer - I found
that "News Grabber" works ok with Zone alarm still on - have you ever
played with the Zone Alarm settings to allow it to work with xnews?

Hi! Personally i will recommend you to use newsleecher as a newsreader
client. Its very stable and good, and uses less cpu and ram compared
to others. download at www.newsleecher.com - good luck!
