Need plans with dimensions and photos to build an outdoor pig roaster out of wood. NOT BBQ PIT OR METAL SPIT. I am looking for designs in the style of a caja china, chinese pig roasting box or cajun microwave. I made one (a pig roaster) and it did not get hot enough and I'm looking to fix it. I'm trying to find actual plans to see where I went wrong? My design called for making a 2x2x2 wood box and to place a metal ash pan on top. Fill with charcoal and cook a pig underneth. I do not need links to retail sales of bbq grills. I would like links to web sites or discussion groups or links to willing experts to discuss my problem. I'd kiss you if you provided links to actual plans I can print! |

Make wood box approx 12inches tall by 5 feet long by 24 inches wide. Use straight cuts. Cover the inside with flashing. For the top cover make a wood frame using 2x2, make sure that the longer pieces are about 6 inches longer on each side to server as handle to lift the top cover. Then cover the frame with a piece of zinc cut to size. About 4 inches from each side add a 4 inch tall wall of zinc to hold the charcoal in place. On one end of the box leave 6 inches (the width of your shovel)without the wall so that you can remove the ashes form the charcoal. Additional tip, on one side of the long strip drill a small hole to place a thermometer. Make sure that you cover the area so no heat comes out thru the hole. |

Sorry but forgot to tell you to add four pieces of 2x4 for feets. Make sure the height is perfect. You can also add handles and wheels. |
