Hello, I'd like to provide books for free reading on my website
similar to Questia, Project Gutenberg or Literature.org. How do I get
started? I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.

Hello,

I'm not quite sure what you're aksing.

Are you looking for content (i.e. files) you can download or link to,
in order to include them on your site?

If so, many of the "classic" sorts of literature in Project Gutenberg
or Literature.org are available for the taking -- they are public
domain files and are no longer protected by copyright.

On the other hand, the works at Questia are -- for the most part --
copyrighted materials. You cannot reproduce these on your website
without permission from the copyright owner.

If you're looking for links to public domain materials that you can
include on your site, I can probably help you out with this. Let me
know.

To clarify: I intend to provide content in the form of books on the
subject of cricket (game). Books that either are in the public domain
or books that I've received permission to make available online. So,
my question relates to the practicalities of scanning the book,
importing to a server, providing access from my website for people to
download and view the ebooks. Should I use a book scanning specialist
and specify format like text and html. Should I FTP it to the server
or provide the webhost with CDs? Are there any software interfaces
already available which I can use on my site? Just want to know how it
all works.
