My wife and I will be travelling to Las Vegas and are looking for a
hotel with check in March 24 for 5 nights. We will have a car so it
is not required that we be on The Strip, although this is a strong
preference.

Please recommend at least 5 hotels that are rated minimum 3-4 stars,
are on or very near The Strip, and have rooms available on my dates
for an average rate of $70 or less per night.

I would prefer someone who has knowledge of the area answer this
question as I have already seen the listings on the typical sites
myself (Expedia, hotels.com, Travelocity, Orbitz). I am looking for
actual recommendations that meet my needs, not links to travel sites.

In my own research, the Sahara has shown up over and over. Anybody
have any opinions or experience at this hotel?

This is outside your price range, but it's possible that there are
deals and coupons that might make it feasible.

Two friends of mine have praised the Luxor as one of the best hotel
bargains in Vegas. It's not cheap, but the 'WOW' factor is
considerable, and the service is superb, according to my friends.

Thanks for the question .. Although I cannot answer it I would love to
know the answer as I have used the internet to make reservations to a
(alleged) really nice hotel.. BUT upon arrival the hotel was OK but
away from the action and not what I wanted. I too plan to visit vegas
one day. Nothing against Google it is great... I have done some
investigation getting the information from the horses mouth. If you
are a member of AOL you could go to the member directory and send a
simple email to some people who live in Vegas to get their advice.
That is the route that I would take .... I would send a
Sorry to bother you but I would like some advice if possible emails.
I would send 20-30 and go with the best answers.

Thanks
Steve

You can check www.tripadvisor.com for user reviews although I found
them to be generally negative comments. Especialy when compared to
reviews at Debbie's resort reviews (I was looking at Mexican
hotels...)

I don't think emailing people who live in Vegas is a good idea. Can
you recommend the top 5 great hotels in your home city, that are a
good deal?
