NR --

This tallest building in the world is actually somewhat controversial.
The primary issue in the past has been "do you count the antennae on
the top?"

It's your question: what sayeth thou?

Not only is the CN Tower in Toronto the tallest building in the world,
but it is the tallest man made, free standing structure at 1,815 ft or
553 metres in height.

Dear nobleresearcher-ga,

Here are the results of my research into the tallest building in the world.

You can view the world record page for the tallest building in the
world from Guinness World Records on the following link:

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/index.asp?ID=49675
Tallest Building
The world's tallest free-standing tower is the CN Tower in Toronto,
Canada, which rises to a mighty 553.34 m (1,815 ft 5 in). The
185-storey, reinforced concrete building was designed by the
Australian architect John Andrews. Work began on the 130,000-tonne
building on February 12, 1973 and was finished on April 2, 1975. The
tower includes a 416-seat restaurant, which revolves in a "Sky Pod" at
351 m (1,150 ft). Two million people visit the CN Tower every year.

Hope this answers your question satisfactorily.

Regards,

The previous comments are referring to the CN Tower, which is not
technically considered a building. The tallest BUILDING in the world
is the new Taipei 101 building in Taiwan. It was opened earlier this
year. More information can be found at the URL below.

Hi again,

Adding my two cents to the comment of sceiron-ga, here is the Guiness
World Records link to the tallest office building in the world, Taipei
101:

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/record.asp?recordid=50105
Tallest office building
Taipei 101 (also known as the Taipei Financial Center) is the world's
tallest building at 508 m (1,666 ft). It overtopped the Petronas
Towers in mid August 2003, and reached its maximum height in October
2003, although it was only due to be completed in the summer of 2004.

Sorry but you are all wrong!

When Daisy and I scaled Mount Everest earlier this year we built a
small kennel (1 foot high) for the use of future doggy visitors.

So, at 29,035 feet (8850 meters) PLUS ONE this has got to be the VERY
HIGHEST building in the World!

It flies the Union Jack and I'm hoping that QE2 and her herd of corgis
will make a Royal Visit in the very near future.

So, once again, Britannia Rules the World!
