I am looking for a ringtone for my cell phone. I want the Ohio State
University Fight Song performed by the Ohio State University Band. I
cannot find it anywhere but I am told that it is somewhere and to use
osufight_qcp, however nothing comes up. Can you find it for me.

Hi nornor-ga,

Can you please specify your phone model and make? As you may know,
different phone companies (and sometimes even different phone models
from the same company) have different ringtone formats.

Do you need a Nokia Ringtone, a Samsung Ringtone, a SonyEricsson
Ringtone, a midi ringtone, a polyphonic ringtone, an mp3 ringtone or
some other type?

Awaiting yor reply,

Hi again,

The "qcp" you've mentioned in your question seems to suggest you're
using a Kyocera phone. If yes, kindly let us know the model number and
we'll send a link for the ringtone most appropriate for your phone.

Please note that the QCP file-type is not limited to Kyocera mobile
phones; several other manufacturers, including most notably Samsung,
have licensed the Qualcomm PureVoice format for their own devices. It
is also possible to convert a QCP file into a WAV file or an MP3 file
to be used on devices that support those formats.

The MatrixM online ringtone archive includes the capability to format
ringtones to meet the specific format needs of any specific cell
phone, and will only supply a ringtone if it is compatible with the
phone.

Yes the site that you sent me is exactly what I want, however, I am
with Verizon and that company is not listed for me to download. I am
using an LG VX6000 phone. Please keep trying for me. Thank you.

You're with Verizon... so that's going to be a problem. You see,
Verizon currently blocks its users from obtaining ring-tones from
third-party providers. So, unless you can obtain the ring-tone from
Verizon's own ring-tone store, there is no easy way to get this
ring-tone into your phone.

nornor-ga:

Please read this thread for information on the not-so-easy way to get
a ringtone onto your phone. If you happen to have a high-quality
recording of the fight song, or access to the marching band's next
performance, you can use the "Voice memo" method mentioned in this
thread to capture and save it as a ringtone, that'll be the easiest
way. The quality will not be that great, though. Otherwise, the other
techniques (using a data cable, or e-mailing a renamed file to
yourself) will require technical knowledge (and a copy of the fight
song in a digital format).

I don't understand. My friend is with Verizon and she has that
ringtone on her phone however, the phone was given to her so she does
not know how to download it but if it is on her phone why can't it be
on mine? I know that I am not computer literate but this just does
not make sense. Can you shed any light on it for me? Thank you.

nornor-ga:

There are three ways to get a ring tone onto your LG VX6000.

The first way is the way that Verizon want you to do it, that is to
download it from an online ring-tone store. Only problem is, Verizon
won't let you download it from any store other than their own. So,
unless you can find the ringtone in their store, you can't get it this
way.

The second way is to have the ringtone data file (osufight.qcp) on a
PC, and the necessary data cable, driver, and upload software to move
that ringtone file from the PC onto the VX6000. Even for people who
are familiar with computers, this is not an easy task. In this
particular case, it is my understanding that you do not have the
ringtone data file anyway.

The third way is to send the ringtone data file as an attachment to an
e-mail sent to the phone. The link I provided just above has the
necessary information on how to do this. Again, you will need to
obtain the osufight.qcp file first. MatrixM does not make this file
available for normal download to your PC.

While it most definitely is technically possible to get this ringtone
onto the VX6000, please understand that the method for doing so is not
an easy one (you will need to use either the second or the third
methods I've described here). Someone who is both an expert at using
cell phones with PCs, and who is an expert at using conversion
programs to create a QCP file, can put this ringtone onto your phone
for you. Your best bet is to ask your friend to put you in touch with
the party that gave her the phone that she has, perhaps they can help
you get it onto your phone.

Thank you very much for helping me semi-understand what is going on.
I will contact Verizon and bitch at them for awhile and see if they
will get that ringtone (I won't hold my breath).

Have a good day and thank you again.
