I need QUARTERLY US Gross State Product Data for all 50 states going
back as many years as possible (at least 15 years, preferably 50). The key
is that it must be QUARTERLY. Also, you must get me the data, not
just direct me to a link where I can buy the data. And, it must be
from a reputatble source. Thanks!

Hello Joel,

The Bureau of Economic Analysis that produces the GSP data has this to
say about quarterly statistics:

=====

Where can I obtain quarterly GSP data?

The gross state product (GSP) data series published by the Bureau of
Economic Analysis contains annual estimates only. We do not estimate
or publish quarterly GSP.

=====

The annual data are available back until 1977. Should I post a link
to the annual data as an answer to your question?

Alternatively, there are commercial services that back-compute
quarterly data based on the BEA annual statistics, but they charge a
pretty penny for the data. Are you interested in knowing about these
services?

Let me know.

Pafalafa and others,

Just to be clear, I know that the BEA publishes yearly data; I have
this data already, and I need the data in quarterly format. I also
know that some services compute the data based on other statistics and
charge you lots of money for it; as you will see in my question, it
says "you must get me the data, not just direct me to a link where I
can buy the data." In other words, I want the actual quarterly gross
state product data. Not annual data, not a link to data I can buy,
and not other data such as personal income that is already computed
quarterly. thanks!

This site will get you all the info you want back to 1969. If you
really want to pay a researcher $10 to move the data from the source
to an answer feel free.

http://www.bea.doc.gov/bea/regional/sqpi/

Just click on all the states and all the years you want and it will
give you a nifty chart.

Thanks for your input, Jack. Unfortunately, that data is personal
income data and wage and salary disbursements, which isn't gross state
product. I appreciate you looking though!

Also, to clarify the comment above, you can give me a link to a site,
as long as the site doesn't then say "pay $2000 for this data" ie if
the site has the data right there.

Thanks!

Well blow me down, I found the info and kept looking because I was
curious about some of it then I ended up on the wrong site :)

http://www.bea.doc.gov/bea/regional/gsp/

A little searching from the page I gave you and you'd have been here
at the site you wanted. This site lets you choose either the current
dollar or a chained dollar. Hope that's the info you need.

Jack,

I've actually already seen that link, and the problem with it is that
the data is yearly and not quarterly. Let me know if you find some
gross state product data that is quarterly and goes back 20-50 years.
Thanks!
