I wan to learn about starting a new community based, informal church -
one without a permanent physical place. There is one article that I know of
that was published within the last 18months in the New York Times or
The Wall St. Journal about a new, informal type of church, that are
being started in peoples' homes or living rooms.

yes, to some extent..but am also interested in social/trend watch type
commentary...why is this happening, what are people's experiences -
any observations of this phenomenon. And really want to find that
NYT/WSJ article if possible.

This is not new. The Plymouth Brethren have been doing this since
1828. Almost all of their churches have begun as house churches.
