Dear dstergiou-ga,

At the Olympic level, the World Confederation of Billiard Sports
?WCBS? now represent all the games you detailed. In 1998, it was
recognised by the IOC as an ?international sports federation?. This is
the first step. They are now campaigning for inclusion in either the
2008, or 2012 Olympics.

They do not have a web site, but there is this article detailing with
the current position on the International Billiards and Snooker
Federation web site:
World Confederation of Billiard Sports
http://www.ibsf.org/wcbs/index.php

This is the relevant page on the International Olympic Committee web site.

"The Association of the IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF)
World Confederation of Billiard Sports."
It contains contact information should you wish to seek further
information from the WCBS.
http://www.olympic.org/uk/organisation/if/fi_uk.asp?id_federation=39

I hope this answers your question. If it does not, or the answer is
unclear, then please ask for clarification of this research before
rating the answer. I shall respond to the clarification request as
soon as I receive it.
Thank you

I don't think an activity that requires beer and cigarettes should
qualify as a "aport".

nelson-ga is obviously rather out of touch with modern day snooker
All venue and tournaments are strictly NON-smoking. There is no longer
any tobacco related sponsorship.
The onyl drink allowed into an arena at either professional or major
amateur venues, by players or spectators is WATER.
Carom, Pool and Snooker are all beng played in the 2005 World Games in
Duisburg. This is another step on the road to Olympic Status.
India is lobbying strongly for the inclusion of Cue Sports when they
host the next Commonwealth Games.
Cue Sports are already included in the Asian Games, SEA Games, Mediterranean Games.
