When I first installed SP2 to Win XP Pro, the Security Center (SC)
properly displayed the status of my firewall. When I turned it off, it
showed as "off" in the SC and a little warning icon appeared in my
system tray. All of a sudden, however, the SC always shows the
firewall as "on," even though I have turned it off. I can confirm it's
off only by entering appropriate terms after the command prompt. When
I do that, I can see that it's off, though the SC continues to shows
it as "on." What might be causing this erroneous SC display? I have
posted this query in the appropriate Win XP newsgroups, but have recd
no responses there.
