I'm having trouble backin up my Outlook 2000 *.pst file.

I have outlook 2000 version 9.0.0, running on Windows 2000.
I have a 2nd hard drive, and periodically back up to it--so that
periodically I back up the C: folders, including the Outlook *.pst
file, to the other hard drive.

But about a week ago, I was not able to copy the *.pst file. When I
try, I get the message, "Unable to copy. A process has locked up part
of the file." -- or something like that. I know that my Norton
Internet professional can interfere with Outlook (on startup, for
example), so I generally try turning Norton off for a few minutes, at
such times, and then turn it back on.

That is not working here. I just can't copy the *.pst file. So my
Outlook e-mails are not protected, at times.

Suggestion:
Reboot and execute copy operation immediately, before first launch of Outlook.
Outlook is represented in Task Manager by process=outlook.exe so as
long as that process is not started automatically in the Windows
Startup list (or by anyone else) then the .PST file should be A-OK to
backup.
