When I was a kid, my sister and I used to watch all the old b&W movies on a Saturday morning- after Wonderama, of course. I vaguely remember a movie that begins at the stroke of midnight, on New Year's Eve, with a murder. A woman runs down the stairs, crying and wishes she could relive the year. Wonder of wonders, she somehow relives the year, but in the end, the same murder is commited, but for different reasons. I have asked so many people, and no one has any recollection of this movie. I am beginning to think that it was all just a dream.... |

Hi Vaneishka! I believe that the movie you saw as a child is the 1947 B&W film ?Repeat Performance.? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039761/maindetails Plot Summary ?Sheila Page, a Broadway star, shoots Barney, her murderous husband on New Year's Eve. She flees her apartment and goes to her Producer, John Friday. When she arrives, it is New Year's day, a year earlier. She has been given the chance to live life over and correct the errors of the past only to find that the end will be the same although the path will be different.? ?Actress Sheila Page murders her two-timing boyfriend and goes to her friend John Friday for help. He gives it to her in the form of granting her a chance to relive the events prior to the shooting. Will the same thing happen again?? IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039761/plotsummary Search terms at the IMDB: Relive murder I hope this helps! Best regards, Bobbie7 |

Bobbie7- Thank-you so much- I can't believe that I finally have the name of the movie. My son has Malton's 2005 Movie Guide- but reading it cover to cover to find the answer seemed a little excessive. Thank-you, thank-you! |

If you enjoyed "Repeat Performance," you might want to check out "Turn Back the Clock," a made-for-television movie from 1989 which was based on the same William O'Farrell novel. "Turn Back the Clock" is not half bad, and Connie Sellecca does an excellent job as the woman who gets to relive a year of her life. http://imdb.com/title/tt0098535/ |
