Most Researchers and Commoners will be too young to recall this
talented actress who used to light up the Silver Screen in movies such
as 'Maisie Was A Lady' and 'Saga of Death Valley'.

I did hear a whisper that she had passed away some 6 years ago when
she would have been in her late 70's.

I fear that even the talented bobbie7-ga, bobbie-6-ga and all their
predecessors will be unable to unearth even one piccy of this lady.

Does anyone else recall her?

Hi Bryan!

I cannot find the date of her death BUT I was able to get information
on what she did after she quit the movies. It's interesting but not
much details. Are you interested?

Thanks!

Hi Easterangel

How nice to hear from you again.

I had feared that you might have lost your wings, or something.

Anyhow, from down here on Earth, I beseech you to please give me your best.

I know that I shall not be disappointed.

All the Best

Hi Bryan!

Actually after digging a little bit more I was able to find the date
of her death.. You are right she died 6 years ago on Sep 16, 1998.
After she left the movies, she became one of the FIRST FEMALE AERIAL
DAREDEVILS.

"...the first Doris Day played a smattering of small roles in mostly
B-movies. Born in 1920, this Day sang in nightclubs and did theater
before making her film debut opposite singing cowboy Roy Rogers in
Republic Pictures' The Saga of Death Valley (1939)... Day left the
movies to pursue a career as one of the first female aerial
daredevils."

Please take note of some errors in the first link in terms of the list
of awards of this Doris Day, confusing some of them to the other
actress with the same name.

"Doris Day"

New York Times: Doris Day
http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/filmography.html?p_id=221359&mod=bio

On an interesting side note, fp-ga's link mentions that the other
Doris Day had a FEAR OF FLYING!

Hi, Easterangel

Now, I can sleep at nights.

I also have pleasure in appointing you my Guardian Angel which now
allows you to use the letters 'GA' after your name.

Hi, Freddy

Wow ... I never knew that there was yet ANOTHER Doris Day!

As gorgeous as #2 may be, she is not the lady about whom I was enquiring.

But very many thanks for looking and for introducing me to #2.

All the Very Best

Bryan

Well, I should have been more careful trying to answer your question:
http://uk.imdb.com/find?q=doris%20day

Apparently, there is webpage with pictures of the other Doris Day:

But even the cached version does not show these pictures.

Hi, Freddy

Very many thanks for providing the photos.

I had been watching 'Young Man with a Horn' (which I quite like) and I
had wondered how tall Doris was.

Now I know that they could both warble, the scope for confusion seems endless.

All the Best

Bryan
