I want to know the admissions criteria for the top US Grad schools in
Broadcast Journalism/ Media Studies (top 20 in US rankings) for
students holding a three
year's bachelor's degree from india. I want to be admitted for the
Fall 2005 semester, which begins in september, 2005.
Normally, many of the school's I have researched require a 4 year
bachelor's degree or its equivalent. But since I have completed my
bachelor's in India where the undergraduate degree is for three years,
I'm not too sure about where i stand in the admissions procedure.
Also, I am currently working in a newspaper and have not applied for
my postgrad diploma. My one option is to enroll myself ASAP in a
distance learning online programme that I can complete by June 2005,
so that I can fulfill the 16 years schooling requirement in time for
Septmeber 2005. Is this a good idea?
My most pertinant questions are these:
1. Will I be elgible for provisional admission (a conditional
admission based on my post graduate diploma scores) if i complete my
post grad diploma in June 2005 for Fall semster of 2005?
2. I need admissions only in the best grad schools offering these
programmes,in any state, what are their GRE requirements and
deadlines?
3. I have not yet started preparation for my GRE, is too late to do so
for taking a test in December?
4. I still have not enrolled myself for a post grad diploma. Is it a
good idea to do so through a distance learning programme such as the
London School of Journalism's " Newswriting" diploma? More
importantly, will it be recognised by US grad schools?
5. Which universities offer full scholarships/teaching assistanships
for international sudents pursuing thier Masters degree?
I need this information ASAP and am quite desperate at the moment as a
lot of things in my life depend on this. Am looking forward to a quick
response!
