I am around 6'3" tall and weigh 135 pounds. I wear size 31 waist, 34
inseam pants; 14.5 neck, 34-35 formal shirts; and a 36 long coat. I
have had incredible difficulty finding any clothing that fits me. No
physical store that I have ever been to has carried my size. From my
experience, big-and-tall shops place too much emphasis on "big" for
them to be of any use to me. I have only found a few online stores
that have my size in pants consistantly (oldnavy.com and gap.com), and
these have a very limited selection. The only place that I have found
with my size of formal shirt is ldscatalog.com, and they only have
white shirts. While this works for some purposes, it does not work
for everything. I tried looking for other carriers of Van Huesen that
might have the same size, but in other colors, but could not find any.

Also, I have not been able to find any solid-colored tee-shirts that
fit. Anything larger than an extra small doesn't fall on my shoulders
right, and no extra small shirt that I have found is long enough to
completely cover my torso.

Finally, I have recently moved to a much colder place than I am used
to. Because of this, I will need to buy a coat that could be worn
with a suit, like a wool top coat or a pea-coat. However, I have been
unable to find either of these items in my size. Either the shoulders
are too broad, or the sleeves are too short, even with adjustments.

I would like you to provide me with a list of online stores that
consistently carry the sizes that I have specified above for the items
that I have specified. These stores should have a reasonable variety
in styles available, as well; at least seven different styles. Also,
I do not have a great deal of money to spend, so these should be
fairly reasonably priced. The most I am able to pay for a coat is
$250, without adjustment fees (I realize that I will more likely than
not have to have it adjusted to have it fit to my satisfaction).
Pants and shirts should not exceed $45, and tee-shirts probably
shouldn't be more than ten or fifteen dollars. Of course, a lower
price would be acceptable if one existed. Thank you in advance

I feel your pain. I have a son who is 6'4" and has a 31 waist. He is
all legs. He wears a 36 inseam. I too wonder where tall, thin men are
supposed to get their clothing. Here are some suggestions. Landsend
online and in catalogs carry a tall medium. This has worked out for my
son. Several colors in sweatshirts, T-shirts, sweaters. Sure, Landsend
is boring...but at least it offers a variety of colors. They also have
jeans that can be made to length up to 36 inseam. These jeans cost
29.50, but they last and wear well. There may also be some dress
shirts. Another place to try is L.L. Bean on line. I have also found
some items on Ebay by typing in my son's inseam. www.landsend.com and
www.llbean.com. These are reasonably priced, although they are not
Kmart or Walmart. But what are you supposed to do? Anyway these are my
suggestions.

Same problem as others. Teenage son 6' tall and all arms and legs.
29/34 pants. Very narrow shoulders, long arms. Jeans and slacks are
hard to find, but show up occasionally at Ross Dress for Less and
Marshall's. Dress shirts and sport coats that fit seem to be totally
nonexistent. Thanks for the suggestions about llbean & landsend
online.

Yup, it is tough finding clothes that fit thin tall men. I'm 6'4" and
150 pounds, but am all arms and legs--so I do understand the
incredible frustration. I too have tried Big & Tall stores only to
find that you need to both BIG and tall, so I haven't found that
useful. I'm not sure where you're located, but if possible try Moores,
a clothing store for men (see www.mooresthesuitpeople.com/). They
specialize in suits and dress shirts/pants/etc so they cary several
sizes. Also, try Le Chateau (www.le-chateau.com/Home.aspx). I think
most of their inseams are 34" and pretty thin waist sizes and the
usually have a good selection of cool pants for men. Also, I have
found some nice sweaters from Mexx, however I hardly ever find things
that fit me properly so the trick is to go shopping OFTEN. Also,
consider finding clothing that's slightly too big for you and use a
tailoring service to alter the sizes. It's also important to know that
people like us just need to spend more to get what we want--it's an
unfortunate reality. :( However, if you buy smart and classic kinds of
garmets that won't go out of style any time soon, and if you take care
of your clothes and use a good dry cleaning service, they'll last a
long time. I've also had a really hard time finding good
coats--however try Moores because you may have some sucess there.
Again, I really want to emphasize going shopping often (even if it may
be discourraging) but the more often you go the more likely you'll
find something that you like. Finally, contact your favorite stores
and encourage them to supply more varieties of sizes. If more and more
people do this and they realize there's a market out there, companies
will be more likely to respond to these kinds of demands.
Take care and good luck! :)
