Dear ladybug21,

The following parks in Philadelphia are named after African Americans
a) Malcolm X Memorial Park at 52nd and Pine (named after Malcolm X)
b) Muhammad Park at 49th and Lancaster (named after Clara Muhammad, a
local activist)
c) Jerome Brown Park at 20th and Ontario (named after the late Eagles star)

Philadelphia has over a 100 parks. A complete list of all these parks
with details on each one them is available on the following websites:

Last weekend, I wrote the following email to the above websites:
"Hi,

I'm sorry for bothering you with this. As part of a research, I am
interested in knowing whether there are any parks in Philadelphia
named after African Americans.

I want to assure you that I am only writing to you for help after
having done a LOT of self-study on sites such as
http://www.cityparksphila.org , http://www.parksource.org ,
http://www.philaparks.org , http://www.phila.gov/fairpark , and
http://www.phila.gov/recreation/centers.html

I'd be really oblidged if you could help me with a list of the names
of parks in Philadelphia that named after African Americans along with
the names of people they're named after.

Thanks very much.

Rohit"

Unfortunately, there aren't even that many. If you're just talking
parks, I believe there are only three.

Malcolm X Memorial Park at 52nd and Pine is named after Malcolm X
Muhammad Park at 49th and Lancaster is named after Clara Muhammad, a
local activist
Jerome Brown Park at 20th and Ontario is named after the late Eagles star

If you wanted to add recreation centers, there are more named after
African Americans"
