What equipment do I need in order to transfer 8mm or Super8 film to DVD or other digital formats (like Mpeg2/DivX/DV)? My father left my family with over 30 hours of film that I would like to preserve. I tried just capturing it with a white screen and a Cannon XLR1 digital camera. The result was great except for a strange "strobing" effect. I'm told this is because of a frame rate mismatch. Is there special equipment I need? Where do I find it? |

If it's just a one-time thing, forget the equipment. Wolf Camera transferred ten of my old Super 8 movies to DVD three years ago for $60.00. |

What was the quality? Resolution? And how did they do it? I'm thinking archival storage. So I really want to preserve as much of the video as possible and not have to go back some years down the road. |
