I want to know how cable and satellite tv providers buy content-like channels or packages of channels-for their services and where to look for more information on the topic. |

In many cases the programs are received by the cable company locally by big dish sattelite = C band sattelite. A leading source of supplies is a free catalog that you can request from www.skyvision.com While aimed at retail I suspect they supply cable companies as well. Each catalog has general information and advertisers. I suspect Comcast and Dish Network deal directly with the source such as www.disney.com which has several C band channels. You can telephone 1 800 603 4142 (Netlink) for prices to descramble almost all programs on USA C band. They can likely tell you how to arrange to rebroadcast any of these channels. You may also find www.orbit.com helpful. Neil |
