I have an old vase or urn stamped with the words "Calias England" on the bottom. I think it belonged to my grandmother from Nova Scotia who has been dead for about 85 years. How can I find information about this piece? My father is also dead so I cannot ask him. |

Perhaps you meant Calais instead of Calias? Calais is an island off the coast of France, which was formerly held by England. English rule over Calais ended in 1558. Calais was liberated from German occupation during World War II by Canadian forces (in 1944). As to any definitive answer, your best bet would be to take the urn to a reputable antiques appraiser. Without seeing it it would be difficult to determine anything about it with accuracy. References: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calais |

The imprint on the bottom of the vase or urn is clearly "Calias England", not Calais France. Thanks for your comment. |
