An intriguing question that I have been asked before and decided to try and find an answer for. First off, recognize that the need for equipment is minimal and questionable at best. Please see these two articles that describe the risk of radio waves actually interfering with medical equipment and pacemakers and the like. http://www.asttbc.org/ibet/educatn/emi.htm http://www.jme1.com/Ethicon/fccissues.htm http://www.pdamd.com/features/interference.xml I really don't see any PROVEN third party way of shielding implantable devices from close proximity radio waves. It looks like a lot of the implantable devices are shilded already. with that said, it seems like there are two options, shileding the medical equipment or the radio wave producing equiment. Obviously blocking the radiowaves being produced by a cell phone would prevent it from working but you could shield some equiment. . http://www.rogers-corp.com/hpf/IL/Bisco/aboutbiscoEC2000.htm Rogers Corporation, One Technology Drive, PO Box 188, Rogers, CT 06263-0188 Phone: 860.774.9605 / Fax: 860.779.5509 |
