I have an old Garmin 195 GPS with its original map database. How do I
update it with a new map database? I'm a pilot and need to have the
approaches updated.

Hello Tommrypilot,

Please take a look at the following update for the Garmin GPS Map 195
that is available at the following link.
http://www.garmin.com/products/gpsmap195/download.html

Could you please clarify if this is the update that you require?

Thanks,
Bobbie7

I believe that the link you gave me was for a software download. That
is valuable in itself. However, I am intersted in updating the map
database. I do not believe that the map database would fit in a 559k
download. The map database contains all of the airport/highway etc
information for all of North and South America.

The actual databse update is provided through the Jeppesen Aviation
Database Update web page - http://shop.garmin.com/aviation/databases/
.

You need the software update from the previous answer. Your GPS should
show you the appropriate revision when you boot.

Follow the instructions on the page I gave you above and you should be golden!

Also - you need the PC interface cable, if you don't already have it.

Happy flying!

Curt,

Thanks for the comment, I'd call this question answered. I've ordered
the cable and should be flying with an updated database this weekend!

Cheers!
