Hey, Steph, I'm in!  Can I help?

So how's this going to work, now?  Do we all sign in at a certain time
and look for a question that launches the party, and then attend via
comments?  Maybe say what we're wearing, what we're drnking, what we
brought--and, of course, salute the birthday boy?

Bryan holds the distinction of launching the most-commented question
ever (#161982; this is the one that made me wish comments were
displayed with their sequence numbers), but we could go for
most-comments-in-an-hour's time--the GA equivalent of a noisy
gathering!

(But do let's ask people not to post long series of empty comments
that are just there to inflate the list.  I thought those kind of
spoiled Bryan's record-setting achievement.)

What else shall we do?

Yep, you did, Steph, but that was somebody else's question, so I
didn't want to answer it there.  You said:  "Are you ready for the
party here on Friday????  I'm wearing a cute little black number with
matching heels..."  Sounds perfect!

I believe I'm going to go for something a little more outrageous,
though, to see if I can startle our guest of honor out of his
customary poise.  Just for fun, you understand.

My suggestion would be to announce a time range in advance so everyone
can plan to attend--especially Bryan!  Sure, say who it's for.  He's
justly famous in this community, though not everyone knows when his
birthday is (no reflection on his exceptional generosity with
reminders).  And you never know whom he might bring as a guest. 
Remember, the only time qliz2-ga ever made an appearance on this site,
it was in his company.  Maybe she'd come with a guest on a leash who'd
be good company for Daisy.

Hey, Bowler, I am not entirely certain what your expression meant, but
I see "gott" and "damm" in it, and I am wondering if you are voicing
an objection of some kind--??  Do come and have fun.  I'm bringing
confetti, and I hope somebody will bring balloons.  Say, can we get a
live band?  Somebody must play bagpipes...

Steph, he has such a disarming way of misbehaving that it is very hard
to be angry with him for long.  (I suspect that this charming manner
must have been a great asset to him throughout his professional and
social careers.)  I think we should forgive him, because, after all,
we do want him to reserve the time and not be Elsewhere when we are
celebrating--right?

The last I heard about Jem she was on her way to some idyllic spot
among palm trees with sun 24 hours a day.

I bet that she's now been shrunk to a frazzle.

I've got a marvellous recipe that requires catfish.

Got it on GA, ages ago.

The only problem was that I couldn't find any catfish.

So I compromised by using two Siamese cats and six Goldfish.

Wow, it's now the 22 October here in the UK and *boy* was I surprised
to find that there's going to be a surprise party!

How many candles on the cake?

Well that always presents a problem because I have been trying to find
a birth certificate for years but sadly the records do not go back far
enough.

I checked with my Dad and my Grandad again this morning but they say
'It's just one of those things that will probably defeat even the best
Researchers at Google - although Digsalot-ga seems the best bet for
finding a missing scroll'.

Grandad remembers that 'he came across' in 1371, whatever that may
mean. Perhaps Digs would know if that helps?

Oh by the way, has Digs been invited? If so, please get a very big
Cake ... he has a certain reputation you know.

I wonder will Leli-ga be there? (Funny, I always think of her as
'Helen'. Can't think why.)
