What are the profits and/or losses for major Hollywood films for say, the last ten years? I understand Hollywood cost accounting is arcane and accurate numbers are not available to we poor moviegoers. Basically, what I would like to know, what major movies ( $50 million or more production costs ) made net profits or losses, based on published figures, which will reveal the most successful directors and stars. | |

I'm glad to have been able to find some useful figures for you. "The Numbers" is a great site for box office info, and I was aware from previous research that they had a page listing the most profitable movies and biggest money-losers. The Numbers: Movie Budget Records http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/records/budgets.html Those lists make interesting reading. I am saddened to see that some movies that I liked a lot (such as "Babe: Pig in the City") are on the loser list. Guess I'm marching to a different drummer (or dancing and ignoring the drumbeats entirely). Best regards, Pink |
