Question ID: 416765
I am looking to purchase a digital humidistat that controls
a standard (U.S.) A/C outlet. I wish to be able to select (on the
same unit):

A/C circuit ON when humidity is above threshold, for SUMMER.
A/C circuit ON when humidity is below threshold, for WINTER.

Does such a product exist? If so, please provide links to
manufacturer information including price and specs (accuracy, range, etc.).

Thank you.

Hi wulph,

Do either of these 3 products seem to be what you're looking for? If
so, please clarify and I'll provide more information.

Hi tlspiegel,

Thanks for your quick attention to my question. Taking the links
you've provided, in order:

#1 - At the bottom right of Page 1 is the humidistat portion. I'm
looking for a digital (read: more precise) version of this portion, as
well as 120V relay output. Ideally, it would include a digital
humidity meter.

#2 - Although this says "humidistat" in the title, this unit appears
to be only a humidity meter. The difference is that a humidistat
turns a switch on/off based on percent of relative humidity, like a
thermostat turns on/off based on temperature.

#3 - This is the kind I'm looking for, except I need A U.S. version
(power source 110-120V).

Cheers,
      wulph

tlspiegel,

Perhaps there are other manufacturers of such an item, that
actually advertise the parameters I requested? I'd really like to
compare 3 or 4 such items before locking in with a vendor anyway...

Regards,
    -wulph

Hi wulph,

I was suggesting to inquire with company #3 (sorry about the spelling
error in my last clarification) and ask if they had the parameters you
needed. I will say, I performed an extensive search for you, and the
companies I posted where the only ones I found. That doesn't mean
others don't exist... but I tried to locate as many as I could.

Best regards,
tlspiegel

OK tlspiegel, that's what I needed to know. Thanks for the info on
the Japanese unit. I won't get to calling those vendors right away,
so go ahead and close out this question. I may also try other
research channels.

Thanks much,
   wulph

I'm looking for just such a device as well. So far, the best I've
found is the Green Air Products THC-1 controller (find it on Froogle).
It's not digital, and it's not as inexpensive as I would have liked,
but otherwise it looks suitable.

Wulph, I think this is
what you're looking for.

Fisher Scientific seems to have it for a good price. Still expensive,
but it's said to come with a NIST certificate, so the quality is
probably above par.

iskunk:
Yes, that is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing the link!
Note that this unit will not work for precise climate control, since
the accuracy is +/- 5% and it only goes down to 30%. However, for
typical home use it would be fine.
