neptuneresearch: There are many industrial coating manufacturers that
supply strippables. A word of caution: strippable coatings provide
protection against physical damage from impact, etc. but do not
necessarily provide corrosion protection. I am a retired coatings
chemist and have formulated strippable coatings myself. They do not
customarily contain anti corrosive compounds.
Conceivably they could, but you would have to provide a large enough
market to fund research. You could however, have tests run with
various conventional strippable coatings in corrosive environments,
which costs money, of course.
Or you could test them tourself by immersion in a 5% salt (sodium
chloride) solution for 2 or 3 weeks and draw your own conclusions.
Good luck, monroe22

There are many excellent wax products, kinda sticky, and very easily
stripped. Some years ago I purchased some waxed ex-MOD bearings which
had lain for thirty years, still perfect.
