I am trying to find a book documenting the life of a schizophrenic in
an institution. The book should contain a personal account of life in
a mental institution or group home. The book must be written by a
person with schizophrenia. I am particularly interested in an account
of a Canadian with schizophrenia. The book should have won a Canadian
literary prize. |

Hello isbinester-ga,
Just to be clear...Is there a specific book that you have in mind
(perhaps one you heard about) that you simply don't know the name
of...?
Or are you interested in finding out if there is one, maybe more,
books that meet your criteria.
Lastly, if I find such a book (or books) but the author is not
Canadian, would information about the book(s) still suffice as an
answer to your question?
Any additional perspective you can offer would be a help in getting
you the best possible answer.
Thanks.

I do not have a specific book in mind. I am hoping that more than one
book exists. The author must be Canadian. The only exception is if
the book has won a Canadian literary prize.

Closest I've come thus far is a prize-winning book of poetry written
by a Canadian author about her son's battle with schizophrenia.
Are you certain that a book like the one you're looking for actually
exists? Or is it more that you are hoping that one exists (and that
we'll be able to find it...!).
I'm just trying to get a better understanding of exactly what you're after, here.
Thanks.

I am not sure such a book exists, but anecdotally someone has said
such a book was written.
