There is a line from a movie that I'll misquote here. 'Tell me sir
that you have more than that... ' The essence of the sarcastic
exchange is that the questioner is disturbed that the subject is
spouting off some dialogue or testimony which is mundane or a lie...
I am looking for the correct quote and/or the movie it comes from.
THANK YOU

Howdy-hi, Seedy!

As I read your question, the first thing that occurred to me was a
courtroom scene from the film "A Few Good Men." Jack Nicholson, as
Colonel Nathan R. Jessep, has quite a few juicy bits of dialogue in
this movie, including a famous exchange with Tom Cruise (as Lieutenant
Lt. Daniel Kaffee) that includes the explosive line "You can't handle
the truth."

This is the portion of "A Few Good Men" that I think you are remembering:

Kaffee : Do you have an answer?

Col. Jessep : Absolutely. My answer is I don't have the first damn
clue. Maybe he was an early riser and liked to pack in the morning.
And maybe he didn't have any friends. I'm an educated man, but I'm
afraid I can't speak intelligently about the travel habits of William
Santiago. What I do know is that he was set to leave the base at 0600.
Now, are these the questions I was called here to answer? Phone calls
and foot lockers? Please tell me you have something more, Lieutenant.
These two men are on trial for their lives. Please tell me that their
lawyer hasn't pinned their hopes to a phone bill.

Note particularly the line "Please tell me you have something more, Lieutenant."

If this is the correct quote, I'll be tickled pink to post "A Few Good
Men" as your answer. If not, of course, the quest will continue.

Hi Pink:

Yup...that's it...Please post the information as an answer. It is a
pleasure having you answer my brain drain... I went to a art lecture
last night.. After one hour of theory about Cezanne's landscapes, I
wanted that line "Please tell me you have something more" but I
couldn't think of the movie. You certainly always have the
"...something more..." Thank you...

Seedy,

It is always great to assist a fellow Google Answers Researcher.

As noted above, your quote is a paraphrase of a line from "A Few Good
Men." The line "Please tell me you have something more, Lieutenant" is
spoken by Jack Nicholson, who gives a fiery, over-the-top performance
as a USMC colonel who is testifying in a murder trial.

I'm delighted to have been able to help. I certainly know how
frustrating it can be to have something like this stuck in your head,
and not quite be able to identify its source. Once I stayed up all
night trying to think of the name of a movie in which Fred MacMurray,
playing an insurance investigator, has wacky adventures with a
hillbilly family (for the record, that movie is "Murder, He Says," and
I finally did get some sleep after the title popped into my head).

Best always,

Seedy,

Many thanks for the five stars and the five simoleons! The nice thing
about GA as a brain-freeze antidote is that there is almost always
somebody around whose brain is functioning differently from one's own.
It's a like a giant hive mind, and the honey is mighty fine, if I do
say so myself, which I do.
