It is possible a configuration problem, but we need more info:
-Error messages.
-Description of the problem (when and how it happens)
-Windows version that you are using (98, ME, XP SP1, SP2, etc.)
-Etc.

Go into system settings and chance the programs it allows. Or you can
uninstall norton run ad-aware just incase first. And then set it up
again this time allowing access.

This could also be a problem with Service Pack 2 for windows XP.
Norton can have poblems with service pack two. I work part-time as an
IT and Network support technician for a very very large company, I'm
also studying for a computer science degree. This is a known problem
that springs up with some of our customers systems. We either advise
them to uninstall service pack 2 or norton. Infact we don't support
service pack 2 if any of our customers have it on there systems.
