Is there a  practical way to repair blank zip disks that are
physically perfect but have been erased by stray magnetic fields and
are no longer recognized in the drive?

It should be possible to use the Long Format method to reformat these
disks, assuming that they are truly physically perfect. Have you
already tried this method, that even Iomega suggests to repair disks
with bad sectors?

Perhaps the problem is your zip drive, the computer or the software.
Have you tried any of these disks with a different zip drive and
different computer?   Neil

Yes,Neil, three different computers and three different drives.   All
work correctly with good disks.   Thanks for trying.
