Two XP Computers, both 512K+ RAM and big disks, on a 10-100 network
with a cable modem gateway to the internet. Both computers set up with
the network wizard with file sharing with the same group name. I can
see the other computer and send and retrieve files. The other computer
has my shared resources on their Network Places but when the other
computer tries to access a shared folder a message comes up saying "is
not accessable you may not have permission to use this network
resource .... not enough server storage space to process this
command". We both access the internet without problem.

You can check this using security and shairing tabs in folder

By Default after XP1 both windows XP will enabled the firewall feature.
Also Most of the Anti-virus software will got the firewall and make
sure all firewall feature is off before it will work.

What versions of XP are you running on the respective computers? Both
Pro, both home, or a mix and if so which PC is running which.

both of your computer can have same ethernet card. Therefore they have
same IP number. IF you change one of them they work. You can change it
from connection>settings>TCP/IP

Ok, try this. In any folder click on tools --> Folder Options -->
View. Scroll to the bottom and make sure Use Simple File Sharing Is
Unchecked. Then try and select one of the folders / drives you are
trying to access. In the security tab select add user to list. In the
box type "everyone" then select check names. Press ok and select
"everyone" from the list at the top, and make sure READ is allowed and
nothing is denyed, you can also give full permitions if you realy
wanted. to access the folder from the other machine click start, run
and type "//COMPUTERNAME/SHAREDFOLDER" and press enter. Where
COMPUTERNAME is put the name of the computer with the stuff you're
trying to access or its IP address. And where SHAREDFOLDER is the
share name of the folder you are trying to access. Remember to set
these things in the sharing tab of the folder.

Hope this helps.

Hi
Just a thought.
On the PC where you have no access to the network, do you log in with
a blank password? XP Pro by default will not permit a blank password
login to access network shares. You must either enter a password or
change the policy in the group policy editor.
Hope this helps.

Had a very similar problem with the ?XP home? computers not able to
browse the XP Pro computer acting as a server. After a long
exploration - found that it was Drive Image 7 installed on the XP Pro
machine that was causing the problem. I uninstalled it and all is now
OK. So it may be this, or a program that has a similar effect that
causes the trouble. I expect later versions of Drive Image may be OK
but haven?t tried any yet. Not forgetting all the advice from
everyone else ? just in case it is a ?multiple? problem. But with all
the other help and as you say you have done all the normal things ? I
recon it looks more like a bug problem than a settings one. Hope this
cracks it!
