Before you try any chemicals, try baking powder.

Make a paste of baking powder and water. Rub into the affected area.
Cover with a towel, and stomp on the towel to "work" the powder into
the carpet. Leave for a day or two, then vacuum.

If you can get sunlight on the area, that would be great.

If it is still smelly, wait until the area is dry, and spray with an
anti-bacterial spray.

A steam cleaner would also do the trick. You can probably rent one.

If you want a quick fix, try a clothes washing liquid or a woolwash
with eucalyptus added.

* Dilute a capful of the washing liquid in two cups of hot water. Dab
this solution onto the area until it is soaked.

* Leave for one day. Dry off with old towels.

* Rinse by wetting area with plain water and mopping up with towels.

* Dry area with your hair dryer. (The quicker it dries, the less
likely it is for the smell to return.

* Expose to sunlight if possible.

Hi Rnd,

Has my beautiful lady got a recipe for you !!

One half cup pure soap (Sunlight)
3 tablespoons washing soda
3 tablespoons cloudy ammonia
5 cups boiling water

Shave the soap into slivers. Throw everything into a saucepan. Bring
back to the boil and keep boiling for one minute, or until the soap
has dissolved. Open a window or door .. don't breathe the ammonia
fumes.

Allow to cool. It will congeal to a thin paste. Store in an airtight container.

Rub it into the carpet with a cloth. Allow to dry.

It has even removed grease marks from light grey carpet. I trust that
it will remove the odour from your carpet too.

Regards, Phil
