Sometimes when I enter "hard disk, 10 Gbytes " or "hearing aid, behind
the ear" I get quotes limited to "10 Gbytes" or limited to "behind
the ear" and other times I get "0 items found" although the items are
available at Ebay. What do I wrong at the times I get 0 response?

What is an inverted comma, and if mine are inverted commas how do you
type uninverted commas?

Bizarre!

I have just run a variety of searches using different combinations of

'hearing aid behind the ear'

And they all produce the same 'findings'.

Suggest you run a series of tests a view to finding which combinations
are not working for you.

Good luck!

It seems to make a difference if there is a comma after the space.

"hard disk 10 gb" with no comma gets 14 items.

"hard disk, 10 gb" gets 14 items.

"hard disk,10 gb" with no space gets 1 item. The words "Hard Disk 10
Gb" appear in the item title in that order. The other 13 previously
retrieved don't have this word sequence.

This behavior doesn't seem to be documented on eBay's help page on search commands.

I meant a space after the comma!

Hi Vaac,

Perhaps you are providing too much information. Your selection
response will reduce in proportion to the increased number of words
and your typing skill.

"Hearing aid behind ear" found 73 hits
"Hearing aid, behind the ear" found 34 responses
"Hearing aid external" found nothing

By chance, are you using inverted commas as above in the search box?
If so, you will get a zero response for hearing aids. Inverted commas
seem to work on some words, not others, whether generic words or brand
names.

Also, check the category you are searching to further reduce the
selections to your area of interest.

I hope you find the bit you need.

Regards, Phil

Phil

You are a genius!

Of course, it's the Inverted Commas that are causing all the probs.

Why didn't I think of that?

Hi Vaac

You do not use any inverted commas, simply enter:

hearing aid behind the ear
